Executive Recruitment Needs Ignored By Big Agencies EXECUTIVE search companies are guilty of snobbery for failing to set up offices in Liverpool, it was claimed today. Too many major agencies still believe they can meet the needs of Liverpool bosses from bases in Manchester or further afield. David Hunt, director of Liverpool-based Alexander James Executive Search and former corporate fundraiser for Barnardo’s in the North West, told Downtown Liverpool: “Despite all the positive developments in Liverpool during the past few years, none of the existing executive search agencies have moved into the city. “Companies in Liverpool regularly complain of the lack of such a company in their city which is well connected and willing to spend the time building partnerships with them. “Manchester search agencies may only be 30 miles down the motorway but they may as well be 300 miles away in terms of their understanding of what makes Liverpool and its business community tick.” David, who has 10 years’ experience recruiting regionally, nationally and internationally, said: “For SMEs, recruiting the right senior person can mean the difference between success and failure. In the worst case scenario, it could put someone out of business.” Executive search companies help businesses present the right image to attract candidates of a high calibre. This could involve ensuring a firm promotes effectively the position it is trying to fill through to ensuring that a business can successfully meet the demands of the senior executive it wants to take on. Liverpool-based Alexander James specialises in IT/telecoms, engineering, construction and professional services, with expertise in sales, marketing and general management roles. The company also has experience recruiting in Eastern and Central Europe, Northern Europe and the Middle East.
