Mention Liverpool and what do people think of first?
According to the Liverpool business community it’s crime and disorder that are most immediately associated with the gateway to the new world (59%).
As we progress through the twenty first century (23%) Liverpool’s connection with the Beatles, as well as its maritime past and connections with America, are considered to be diminishing in significance.
Consequently, Liverpool is failing to attract the necessary amount of inward investment because of its poor image. Only 38% of respondents felt Liverpool’s current reputation acted as a positive force in attracting investment, with a sizeable proportion of the business community viewing Liverpool’s current reputation as its biggest hurdle to sustainable commercial growth.
