JULY AUGUST OCTOBER SEPTEMBER DECEMBER NOVEMBER JUNE APRIL

CCUK Profile

Winners of Inner City Special Award

Managing Director – Gary Millar
Address: Hanover House, Hanover Street, Liverpool, L1 3DZ
Fax: 0151 285 3895
E-mail: gary@ccuk.com
www.ccuk.com

CCUK were founded in August 2002. CCUK Media was developed from the media arm of successful IT business Computer Centres UK Limited (CCUK). CCUK Media remained dormant until this year and is a new vehicle for investing in ‘Special Projects’ including business and social enterprise development, film production, and major event promotion. We commenced trading commercially in June 2003 to primarily manage and promote our new concept ‘The International Festival of Motorsport at Aintree Racecourse’. We have recently received significant media exposure from The Daily Post, Liverpool Echo, Granada Reports, Daily Telegraph and the Times. The event will attract a minimum of 50,000 visitors, a TV audience of more than 1 million and income expected to top £1 million (£800k from entrance tickets and £250k from Corporate Hospitality and Souvenir Sales). Stirling Moss amongst others will host the event.
CCUK currently employ 2 staff. This will grow to approximately 10 in the next 4 months.
Investments will create 5 subcontracted positions to handle high profile sponsorship, magazine production and hospitality services.
The IT business is currently being sold after 11 years of trading to permit Gary more time to concentrate on ‘Special Projects’.

Gary Millar and Stephen Macfarlane of CCUK have for many years supported a number of charities and on average raised in excess of £50k each year. Gary is well known amongst the Liverpool business and social scene for his passion and interest in helping raise funds. Gary organised the televised St Valentines Ball at the Palm House raising funds for Give a Child a Chance. He also organised annual Valentine’s Dinners and Burns Supper at Colin’s Bridewell to again raise funds for Give a Child a Chance, but also Liverpool Film Academy Educational Trust and Liverpool Habitat for
Humanity (LHFH). His most recent input was for the Tennis Legends Dinner at the Radisson SAS for LHFH.
CCUK Media would now like to act as a business catalyst for fundraising initiatives and pledge schemes for those and other charities. We want to start marketing social enterprise initiatives and fund raising schemes to support local charities. One of Gary’s current initiatives is a sponsored walk in New York – 40 local business leaders and friends are raising funds for LHFH.
The opportunity is there. National and local benefactors exist. Corporate donations are out there. Therefore, CCUK Media wants to set up a small team to find and nurture them. We want to help complete applications, provide fundraising and event training, create and run charity events and provide advice and research.
We would like to create more interest from local benefactors and business leaders. We would like nurture the same passion as CCUK in raising interest and funds for deserving local charities. To create and grow that passion we need to develop and market new initiatives and provide ongoing support services.

Aerogistics Profile

Winner of New Talent Award

Address: AIMES Centre, 10 Duke Street, Liverpool, L1 5AS
E-mail: tdawes@aerogistics.co.uk
Website: www.aerogistics.co.uk

The vision of Aerogistics Ltd is to be the world’s premier aerospace supply chain management company. This will be achieved by combining innovative SME cluster business models with leading-edge e-business technologies. Aerogistics have developed three aerospace supply chain management e-business applications in partnership with AIMES. The first application WHISPA - currently in the pilot stage with Westland Helicopters provides on-line supply chain risk management capability. The second application - @EROCLUSTER - facilitates the autonomous clustering of SMEs allowing participating companies to effectively bid and compete with larger tier-1 suppliers for prime contracts and to supply directly into OEMs. The third application GROUPBUY facilitates aggregated e-procurement for aerospace raw materials providing an on-line catalogue offered at reduced prices due to economies of scale. The interoperability of three applications provides end-to-end visibility from the end-customer to the raw material supplier. The USP of Aerogistics is the clustering of multi-commodity SMEs to provide a one-stop shop service to the Aerospace industry. The Aerogistics cluster is clearly differentiated from global competition as it combines leading-edge e-cluster technology with the advantages offered by SMEs, such as low overheads, responsive manufacturing and jobbing shop capability i.e. quick turnaround of small batches at minimum cost. The biggest opportunities for this core capability is with the aerospace spares and repairs market that require rapid manufacture of parts to prevent Aircraft on Ground (AOG) that typically costs £100,000 per day.

Aerogistics will build on its close relationship with the UK aerospace alliances, regional development agencies and OEM customers to market the supply chain applications and cluster capabilities. Considerable interest has already been shown from Embraer (Brazil), Raytheon (US), WADA (Japan) and Hawker de Havilland (Australia). In order to access these markets, Aerogistics will actively promote the portal technologies and its cluster capabilities. Within the next 18 months, the on-line collaborative tools and cluster business model will be applied to other industries. This will provide Merseyside SMEs with the market exposure and technical infrastructure to generate new revenue streams and reduce operational costs.

Taxi TV Profile

Winner of New Talent Award

Managing Director – Richard Wallace
Address: St Lawrence School, Westminster Road, Kirkdale, Liverpool, L4 3TQ
Phone: 0151 922 7771
E-mail: richard@taxitvuk.com
Website: www.taxitvuk.com

Taxi TV, brainchild of brothers Richard and Simon Wallace, is set to hit the streets of Liverpool from August 1st 2004. Liverpool will see its Hackney Taxis fitted with a high tech computer system along with 15" LCD screens creating a mobile TV Channel. Taxi TV aims to create an accessible platform for local businesses, attractions and individuals to showcase their services. It provides a new medium to target a captive and diverse audience in a mobile environment, whilst acting as an ideal vehicle to promote the city twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. Taxi TV has the capability to update its information daily, offering potential clients a lot more flexibility. Taxi TV has already created a buzz around the City. With clients such as The Liverpool Culture Company, National Museums, TUC Learning Services NW, Empire Theatre and The Beatles Story, to name but a few, Taxi TV has a solid foundation to drive itself and the city into 2008 and beyond.
With the concept of Taxi TV being unique, we believe that the obvious development in improving our market position would be to increase our fleet of cabs along with our systems, which would in return increase our viewing figures offering an even greater appeal to clients. Combine this with a strong PR campaign and it spells success.
