"PR has always been one area of spend I have always neglected as an owner of
several SMEs in Liverpool. When producing marketing and advertising budgets
I have never given much attention to PR spend. The reason mainly being is
that I don't fully understand the added value PR brings to business. PR
always seemed costly for something I couldn't touch and feel the direct
benefit of, and something I didn't quite trust. I've always chosen in the
past to up advertising spend in place of applying any budget to PR thinking
this would bring a better a return. Weber Shandwick pitched into DLIB to
explain what PR is, how it could work for us and how the added value is
actually measured. Being given the information has completely changed my
stance on PR.

We feel sure there are many other SME's in Liverpool that are clouded about
PR, so we asked Jo Leah, Managing Director of Weber Shandwick (north) to
help explain."
