IT’S ALL OVER BAR THE COUNTING FOR THIRD ANNUAL LIVERCOOL AWARDS
VOTING for the third annual Livercool Awards has now closed and the counting has begun.
Tickets for the awards have already sold out, with more than 400 of Liverpool’s leading business men and women due to attend.
Now those nominated can do no more than sit and wait until the prizes are announced at a special gala dinner at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Liverpool on November 3.
It is the third year that the city’s top movers and shakers are to be honoured in this way since the Livercool Awards were set up by independent private sector group Downtown Liverpool in Business in 2003.
And DLiB chairman Frank McKenna believes this year’s event – which is being held in association with the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and No Name Kitchens - promises to be the best of the lot.
Mr McKenna said: “Since our first event back in 2003, these awards have really captured the business community’s imaginations and gone from strength to strength.
“This year is our biggest yet with more awards being presented, more entertainment and more people coming on the night.
“We’ve even broken a record in terms of the number of votes cast with more than 5,000 people registering on the DLIB website to have their say on the night’s big winners.”
Among the winners, there will be awards for the Young Downtown Entrepreneur of the year, Sexy Networker of the year and 2005’s Downtown Culture Champion.
Entertainment will be provided by Comedian John Bishop and new Liverpool band The Genie Queen while keynote speakers include NWDA Chief Executive, Steven Broomhead.
Mr Broomhead said: “Liverpool’s on-going renaissance is reaffirming the city’s impressive reputation as a great place to do business.
“The NWDA is pleased to support this glittering awards ceremony, which recognises the individual entrepreneurs and business leaders who have helped the city regain its pride, confidence and economic strength.”
