SUPERMARKET giant Tesco has become the latest household name to join Downtown Liverpool in Business.
On the day the store announced it would create 7,500 new jobs nationwide, Britain’s biggest grocer became the 50 th company to become a member of DLIB’s exclusive VIP club.
In doing so, they join industry leaders such as accountants Grant Thornton, legal giant Brabners Chaffe Street and Premiership football clubs Liverpool and Everton FC.
Chairman Frank McKenna said the decision to join Downtown Liverpool in Business was a mark of the success the business club had enjoyed in its first two years.
He said: “For us, Tesco’s decision to join DLIB is a further demonstration of the success that we have enjoyed over the last 12 months.
“It is also an indication of why we feel that we are a business voice that deserves to be heard.
“But for Tesco, joining Downtown Liverpool in Business gives the major retailer in Merseyside access to the most effective private sector lobbying group on Merseyside.
“As well as adding weight to their voice in the city, being members means Tesco will be introduced to a range of potential partners who they can work with on future projects across this area.”
