'Downtown's Summer Offensive'

Downtown Liverpool in Business (DLIB) will confirm itself as the leading private sector political lobbying company in the city this summer by hosting three major events.

Downtown’s ‘Summer Offensive’ begins with a celebration of the company’s first year in business with a party at Liverpool’s coolest venue, Hope Street Hotel, on Wednesday 18th May.

DLIB’s second Liverpool Property Forum of 2005 follows this. ‘Talkin’ ‘Bout Regeneration’ will see regeneration expert David Taylor, an advisor to Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott, address 100 of the city’s leading figures from the property industry. This event will be held on Thursday 26th May at the FACT Centre.

Finally DLIB will host the second annual ‘Liverpool Business Oscars’, sponsored by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and NO NAME Kitchens,

The Oscars event will be held in the splendid setting of Sefton Park’s Palm House, where 200 of Liverpool’s business leaders and entrepreneurs will be invited to a black tie occasion that DLIB is promising to be THE summer event for the local business community.

The purpose of the Oscars is to reward businesses that have made an outstanding contribution to Liverpool’s image as a place to do business and have demonstrated a sustained commitment to the city. An online poll via the DLIB website will determine who the Oscar winners will be

DLIB Chairman Frank McKenna explained:

“These three major, high profile events demonstrate how far we have come in a very short space of time. Each occasion will be very special, and will be the basis of a very active and busy summer for the company, when we will be stepping up our ‘Liverpool One’ campaign, and launching another initiative that we believe will be as well supported as our other projects.”
