LIVERPOOL PROPERTY INDUSTRY PREPARES TO BOOM
The property development and construction industries hold the key to building a flourishing economy in Liverpool - and city living developments are a vital part of the plan.
Thats the verdict from an overwhelming majority of leading Liverpool businesspeople who were questioned as part of a survey, specially commissioned by Weber Shandwick and Downtown Liverpool in Business, looking at the potential growth areas for the city as we approach 2008.
A massive 79 per cent of those surveyed believe that Liverpool can sustain more city living developments to cater for the citys growing workforce.
And the opportunities arent restricted to residential properties either. In terms of construction opportunities, 59 per cent believe that improving the transport infrastructure is a top priority and 74 per cent think that constructing a leading- edge business infrastructure is more important to the city that protecting heritage sites.
Overall, 34 per cent of those surveyed believed the property development and construction sectors would have the biggest impact on the citys future economy and 35 per cent say that the pace of property development in the city is too slow for the current business profile.
The survey of Liverpool businesspeople was carried out on behalf of Weber Shandwick, the worlds largest and the UKs number one PR agency who have recently opened an office in Liverpool for the first time and Downtown Liverpool In Business (DLIB), the organization which champions the private sector.
DLIB Chairman, Frank McKenna comments: Liverpool is about to enter a period of economic regeneration that will have positive benefits for every business and resident. There has never been a better time to capitalise on the attention that the area will be getting and to make sure it is turned to the citys advantage.
Together with tourism, the property and construction industries in Liverpool are set to enjoy a period of prosperity that will lay the economic foundations for decades to come. It is vital that efficient planning processes are established to deal with the inevitable growth in planning applications and development projects that the city is about to experience.
Now is the time to promote Liverpool as a modern, growing and forward-thinking city, and not as an area weighed down by its past.
