As the owner manager of an organisation that, among other things, promotes and encourages networking among the region’s business community, I applaud this innovative initiative.

With all the talk of doom and gloom that has immersed us over the past twelve months, bringing together some of the most successful entrepreneurs to discuss some very exciting ideas will help get 2010 off to a much more optimistic start.

As we embark on a new decade, one of change, it is crucial that entrepreneurship is recognised as a key driver of economic revival. The need to encourage people to see the setting up of their own business as a positive career choice is a genuine challenge and one that RAW can help promote.

New businesses can help create new industries, provide employment and regenerate communities. The culture of enterprise has not been encouraged anywhere near enough in the UK, despite government claims to the contrary.

But, if we are to overcome the unique economic circumstances that face us at the start of this new decade, then the ability of business leaders to come together, formulate positive agendas and drive them forward is essential.
