Now in their fifth year, the awards honour individuals who have not only enjoyed personal success, but who have made a significant contribution to the city’s renaissance. Past winners have included Phil Redmond, Gary Millar, Neil Pakey, Paul Bolton and Mark Connor. As always, the event will be a sell out, so if you haven’t done so already, make sure you reserve your seats at this not-to-be-missed gala dinner. |

LIVERPOOL MUSIC WEEK |
|
| This year Liverpool Music Week has raised its game and pulled together a line up of world class artistes and groundbreaking fresh talent to create a 10 day jam packed itinerary of live music, giving this years festival a new diverse feel. The UK’s largest indoor winter festival event was founded by Liverpool promoter Mike Deane in 2003, and has now reached national status and is a highlight in the live music calendar. With a desire to push the event and its reputation to even greater heights, Mike and his team have since formed a JV company with one of the UK’s most prolific music industry figures Cream CEO James Barton. AIRPORT AWARD FOR JLA |
|
| Liverpool John Lennon Airport has been named as the UK’s best airport, fighting off competition from a host of other candidates, including Manchester, Birmingham and London Luton. JLA was awarded the prestigious title at the annual Travel Trade Gazette awards in London earlier this month. |

ECHO AWARD FOR GARY MILLAR |

| Parr Street studios boss and DLIB member Gary Millar has been crowned Enterprise Champion 2007 by the Liverpool Echo. Gary, who won the Culture Champion ‘Livercool’ award in 2006, rescued Parr Street studios from closure and alongside his management team has transformed the iconic city centre site with a boutique hotel, creative work spaces and plans for a new conference venue and lounge. |

| Many DLIB members were treated to a wonderful evening of traditional music and dance – not to mention fabulous food – at the grand opening of Liverpool’s first five-star Indian restaurant recently. Mayur, in Duke Street, employs chefs from India, Malaysia and Singapore, and aims to offer an authentic taste of the East. |
