LIVERPOOL'S 54 STOREY SKYSCRAPER PLANS

Plans to build the tallest skyscraper outside London were unveiled for the first time this week.

The plans outline what the 165-metre and 54-storey King Edward Tower will look like if given planning permission.

Landowners Richmont and developer Y1 say they are now on the cusp of submitting a planning application for the £130m tower, which will contain offices, leisure space and apartments.

If given the go-ahead, it would be four floors bigger and around 8m taller than Manchester’s Beetham Tower.

ACC WINS AT FINANCE DIRECTOR AWARDS

Liverpool’s Arena and Convention Centre (ACC) continues to pull in the accolades as Gerald Andrews was named as top finance director for a business with a turnover below £25m. The prize came as the regional money men were celebrated at the second annual North West Finance Director Awards at the Lowry Hotel, Manchester.  The city venue, which is owned by the council and has won praise for boosting Liverpool’s leisure economy with concerts and political conferences, brought in more than £12m and made a profit of £16,000 in its first full year of trading.  Andrews estimated that the ACC brings in more than £200m to the local economy each year but quipped: “It’s not all on our balance sheet unfortunately.”
