THE GLITTERATI ATTEND LIVERPOOL FASHION WEEK

Models, fashion gurus and soap stars put on their best frocks to attend Liverpool’s prestigious five day catwalk event.

Liverpool Fashion Week kicked off in style with model Sophie Anderton taking to the catwalk.

Sophie, who made her name modelling Gossard bras, opened the show in a dress by Wallasey designer Neil Paul Cooper.

She said: “I absolutely enjoyed taking part in the show. I think Liverpool designers are amazing – Neil is a genius.”

“I love Liverpool, it has a huge fashion culture."

Sophie was not the only model to attend; supermodel Caprice unveiled her new spring/summer lingerie collection.

After the collection previewed, Caprice said: “That was amazing. I am impressed at the sheer understated elegance of the designs this evening”.

Caprice said Liverpool fashions had the edge over London.

She said: “I love Liverpool for its shops and fashions, it’s fantastic. I was so excited to take part in Liverpool Fashion Week and to showcase my collection here”.

Liverpool Fashion week concludes tonight with the final event Scouse In The City at the Liverpool Olympia. The catwalk show will include former Dynasty star Emma Samms, soap stars and cast members from Britannia High.

CHARLTON FOXCROFT

Charlton Foxcroft & Co is the largest mortgage brokerage in the North West. We formed four years ago and whilst we provide independent whole of market advice across the full mortgage market range we specialise in buy to let.

We have a group of advisers based in our Wavertree office who are supported by an administrative team who ensure that our clients receive their mortgage offers promptly. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service which is, of course, important at any time but never more so than in the current trading environment.

Our clients are spread across the UK and our advisers deal with them on a face to face basis, over the telephone and by email. A large proportion of our clients buy property regularly, have substantial portfolios and property is their main business. We receive repeat instructions from our clients and we are often recommended to others by our satisfied clients.

We have invested in our processes to put us in a position to reach offer stage quicker to give us a competitive advantage over other mortgage brokers. As buy to let mortgage business is the dominant type of business we transact our advisers are experts in this field. We have excellent relationships with the main lenders and valuers in the marketplace together with a network of solicitors. These relationships support our ability to provide excellent customer service to our clients ensuring we are at offer stage quickly.

How many of you reading this today feel like you are running around chasing your tail? Do you sometimes feel so focused on increasing turnover that you’ve lost sight of the actual bottom line profit you’re generating? If so, then you are falling into the trap of becoming a busy fool.

To share this success, we will shortly be holding a half day workshop, free to all members of DLIB, to provide the basic tools to scope your business so that you can easily identify the bottlenecks and non value added activities that are draining your resources, increasing your cost of sale and most importantly, haemorrhaging your potential profits!

Watch this space for details and remember

Turnover is Vanity, Profit is Sanity, Cash is king
So don’t lose sight of the important thing.
Running around chasing your tail
Is the quickest way to make you fail

ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN LOGOS...

Liverpool is to develop a new logo to build on it's successful Capital of Culture year. While it may be money well spent, ultimately no logo will ever speak louder than actions.

HILL DICKINSON OPENS NEW OFFICE IN SINGAPORE

Liverpool law firm Hill Dickinson is building its national status and international ambitions by opening a new office in Singapore to service its growing number of clients in the region. As Hill Dickinson’s Managing Partner, Peter Jackson, states: “It is a bold step to open a new office in the current economic market and this demonstrates our commitment to invest in the firm’s future.”

Hill Dickinson already has offices in Manchester, Liverpool, London, Chester and Piraeus, and this expansion to Singapore reflects the firm’s increasing activities in the Asia Pacific region, building primarily upon Hill Dickinson’s excellent reputation for marine work.

It is hoped the Singapore office will also help the firm to increase its commercial client base as links with emerging economies grow. And, with a growing global presence, the firm is now further able to meet client needs on a local, national and international level.

For more information about how Hill Dickinson can help you, go to www.hilldickinson.com.

STEVEN GERRARD

Playing his 100th European game for the Reds, the Liverpool skipper once more proved to be the inspiration, with a brace of goals and his usual all action performance in the 4-0 Anfield demolition of Real Madrid in the European Champions League on Tuesday. A repeat performance at Old Trafford tomorrow would do nicely…

THE HOTTEST PLAICE IN TOWN

I’m not convinced that words can do justice to the dining experience I had this week at Bold Street’s Italian Club Fish Restaurant. I liked fish up until Wednesday, now I love it.

The Italian Club Fish offers just 3 alternatives dishes to their amazing fish menu. Everything is completely fresh which is why they close on a Monday as no fresh supplies are available.

Having never travelled to Italy, the restaurant, next door to Café Tabac, is just how I would imagine a restaurant to be in the heart of an Italian fishing village. The décor is fresh and quaint and surgically clean.

This is a family run business which I predict will become “reservation only” before long and a regular haunt for fish lovers from throughout the region. Correct me if I am wrong, but I can’t think of another restaurant that specialises in fish in the city.

I started with half a dozen Oysters served with Tabasco & Shallot vinegar, maybe not the norm for a Wednesday lunchtime, but they certainly gave me a sensual tingle for the rest of the afternoon!

Next up I went for the dish of the day, no behave, it wasn’t Frank! I ordered the Sea Bass accompanied by lightly battered mixed vegetables and sautéed Spinach with Parmesan shavings. It was outstanding…. No really, it was absolutely outstanding. Sea Bass aside, the Spinach is really something to rave about, I could have eaten an entire plate full.

I sat opposite a couple on their third visit, they explained, “We have eaten in restaurants all over the city, now that we have discovered this plaice…. Why would we go elsewhere?” They then tempted me to an onion ring which was mouth-wateringly special.

Please make a point of visiting The Italian Club Fish and tell me I am wrong …if you dare.
