INTRODUCTION

The final ‘sexy networking’ evening of 2009 took place at the Sir Thomas Hotel last night and the 150 plus guests were the first to hear the shortlists for this year’s ‘Livercool’ Awards. This week’s TFI has all the details and gives you a chance to vote for your favourite business leaders and entrepreneurs. Elsewhere in a revamped and new look bulletin, we feature a very unusual ‘Man of the Week’; Michelle Helsby of Evolve reveals all in ‘Who Are Yer?’. Property consultants Sutcliffe are the ‘Business of the Week’ and we have a brand new ‘Website of the Week section’, sponsored by Ph.Creative. Check out the autumn DLIB events programme and the usual musings of Frank McKenna and Roger Jonas. Have a great weekend, and don’t do anything Frank wouldn’t do…

BUSINESSES WARNED TO BEWARE OF NEW CLAMPDOWN ON BRIBERY

Businesses are being urged to put anti-corruption measures in place in advance of a new law that could make them liable for bribes paid by their employees.

Graham Dagnall, of DLIB sponsors DWF, commented: "The proposals by the committee seek to make companies liable if they fail to ensure that adequate anti-bribery procedures are in place. It is important that companies address the issue now and put procedures in place before the bill becomes law.”

RESERVOIR CAMPAIGN FOR KENYON FRASER

Marketing agency Kenyon Fraser has secured a contract with Warrington group United Utilities. The agency is supplying the creative design work for a multi-media advertising campaign promoting public safety.

United Utilities wants to highlight the dangers of swimming in reservoirs after eight people have died in the last four years while swimming in reservoirs.

Managing director Richard Kenyon said: “It’s always pleasing for our creative team to win competitive tenders like this.

“This campaign fits with much of the social marketing work we are doing at the moment, and we hope that our creativity helps to change behaviours.”

For the first 'Website of the Week' feature we bring you a site that left the Downtown office in awe at how impressive a well thought out website can be, even with possibly the most mundane of products.

NOTE: roll over the cup at the top right.

ENJOY (and turn on the sound if you can, but not too loud)
