HOLMES
BUOYANT ABOUT CITY ’S FUTURE
The first Liverpool Property Forum
of the year was treated to an upbeat presentation from
Grosvenor’s ‘man
in Liverpool’ Rod Holmes, who not only offered a
comprehensive overview of how spectacular the city will
look on the completion of the ‘Liverpool One’ project,
but also inspired delegates with his optimistic view of
the city’s future. He made special mention of the
contribution local architects and DLIB members Brock Carmichael
had made to the scheme. Brabners Chaffe Street property
expert Chris Parkinson analysed the current Liverpool market,
whilst Grant Thornton’s Phillip Wooley looked at
positive public-private sector regeneration partnerships. CLICK

The end of the dreaded ‘Big Dig’ has been
announced, with the road works from hell due to finish
to coincide with the opening of the first phase of Liverpool
One in May. When it is all done, we can have the debate
about weather the ‘pain’ has generated the
predicted ‘gain’!

DLIB
BACKS SUPERLAMBANANA CAMPAIGN
News that the city only had the
Superlambanana on loan until the end of this year emerged
during February, and
DLIB, along with numerous other local organisations,
have joined the Liverpool Daily Post campaign to keep
the statue
in the city where it has spent the last ten years.
Francis McEnteggart’s claim that the Superlambanana was comparable
to the Mona Lisa may have been a little over the top, but
we still think the ‘yellow peril’ is worth
fighting for. CLICK
