HILTON UPBEAT AT PROPERTY FORUM
Liverpool City Council Chief Executive Colin Hilton gave a confident performance at the Liverpool Property Forum, hosted by DLIB earlier this month. Celebrating his first anniversary in the job, Mr. Hilton said that recent changes made in the structure of the Culture Company would lead to better communication about plans for 08, which he said were the most ambitious for any European Capital of Culture city. He also confirmed that plans to merge Liverpool Vision, Liverpool Land Development Company and Business Liverpool were still on track.

BY-ELECTION GAIN FOR LIVERPOOL LABOUR PARTY
Labour overturned a huge Liberal Democrat majority to romp to victory in a city council by-election earlier this month. Liverpool’s Warbreck ward had previously returned the Lib Dems with a majority of more than 1,600. The result means that for the first time in many a year, Labour will consider themselves to have a genuine chance of gaining control of Liverpool City Council at the local elections in May 08.
