| Liverpool City Council leader Warren Bradley addressed the Liverpool Property Forum earlier this month, and confirmed that the proposed ‘tall buildings policy’ had been abandoned. The controversial proposition would have dictated to developers specific areas in the city where tall buildings could be constructed. Now, each planning application will be dealt with on its own individual merits. Councillor Bradley also expressed his confidence that the city would deliver a successful Capital of Culture year in 2008, but admitted that more had to be done to engage with the wider business community across the city. | Still six years to go, but the capital city has been promised a multi-billion pound regeneration boom on the back of winning their 2012 Olympic bid. Given that the South East, and London in particular, already enjoys a bigger slice of the government resource cake than the rest of the country, our initial delight at the Brits defeating the French in the bid to host the games, may soon turn into dismay. Was it a shortfall of £70 million that cost Liverpool its tram scheme? Small change in comparison to the additional £5 BILLION that Mayor Livingstone will be collecting for his city hey! |

| The excellent North West Business Insider magazine published its annual power 100 this month, with Liverpool’s private and public sector players well represented. Peel Holdings Chairman John Whittaker, whose company has transformed Liverpool Airport, and will do the same with the docks if the planners let them, is the most powerful regional player according to Insider. And the man whose money is revitalising Liverpool’s retail offering, the Duke of Westminster, comes in at number three. The highest ranked scouse ‘double act’, though, is, wait for it… Wayne Rooney and Colleen McLoughlin (10)! Other notables in the list are Mike Storey (60), Warren Bradley (77) and Culture Company chief Jason Harborow (56). |

| Last month we asked if Everton and Liverpool should ground share. Just 38.4% of you think that they should, with the majority, 61.6%, believing that the Blues and Reds should maintain homes of their own. |
