DLIB UNVEILS NEW SPONSOR |
|
Private sector lobbying group and networking club, Downtown Liverpool in Business (DLIB) has unveiled a new legal sponsor for 2009.
Leading law firm DWF LLP will join accountants Grant Thornton, property developers Iliad and manufacturing firm Noname Kitchens as a headline sponsor of DLIB, which will celebrate its fifth anniversary later this year.
DLIB Chairman Frank McKenna said:
“We are absolutely delighted to have secured a sponsorship deal with a legal company that is so clearly committed to the city.
“DWF LLP has a first class reputation in the city and has exciting plans for the future, very practically demonstrated by the opening of their new Liverpool offices in Old Hall Street last year.
“I am sure they will provide a fabulous on line service to our members via the DLIB website, and contribute effectively to the debates and discussions that will take place around the many issues affecting the local business community in 2009”
DWF Client Development Partner Richard Mathias added:
“We are excited by the opportunities this deal offers DWF LLP. In terms of profile and getting to meet the movers and shakers in the city, DLIB is clearly the best placed business club to enable that to happen.”
“Equally, we are keen to play our part in influencing regional and national decision makers on the key policies that effect private sector companies.”
“Events such as the business ‘Oscars’ the ‘Livercool’ awards and ‘sexy’ networking are the type of quality occasions that DWF wants to be involved in and associated with, and we are looking forward to developing a strong relationship with DLIB and its growing number of members.” |

NEW CORPORATE SPPNSOR BACKS CITY BUSINESS GROUP |
|
A MAJOR PLC has become the latest company to sign up as corporate sponsor of private sector champion, Downtown Liverpool in Business (DLIB).
Insurance brokers CBG Group PLC is looking to raise its profile to compliment the company’s expansion into new offices in Liverpool.
Now, the Rumford Place-based company has struck a deal to back DLIB, in a move which has been welcomed by Frank McKenna, chairman of the lobbying and networking group.
Mike Askew, Managing Director of CBG said: “There’s no doubt that Downtown Liverpool is the meaningful business group in the city.”
“It is about getting things done and growing businesses, which fits perfectly with us as a
company.”
“We were delighted to be able to come in as corporate sponsors, raising our profile within the city while putting us in touch with the people who matter in Liverpool.”
DLIB chairman Frank McKenna added: “We at Downtown
Liverpool select our corporate
sponsors very carefully – that’s why we are so proud to have associations with the likes of Grant Thornton, The Flanagan Group, Iliad and Noname Kitchens.”
“I believe CBG fit in that same category as a highly regarded professional service with something unique and innovative to bring to the table.”
“While investing in having a meaningful presence in
Liverpool, the company offers services which have been
successful on a national scale, and so fits perfectly with the ambitions and outlooks that we share.”
Downtown Liverpool In Business is the North West’s most dynamic private sector business group.
It is the only independent
business club in the city and is dedicated to improve the trading conditions for the city’s private sector and tackling the long term issues which businesses in
Liverpool face. |

PM SPEAKS TO DOWNTOWN MEMBERS |
|
| Prime Minister Gordon Brown brought his cabinet to Liverpool in January, and he, along with several government ministers
including Ed Balls, James Purnell and Hazel Blears, attended a
networking event at the Newz Bar to meet and talk to over 100 DLIB members.
The PM told us that he was determined to help businesses through the tough economic challenges that we face, and that financial support would be made available through the Northwest Development Agency and Business Link.
He confirmed that public spending plans would go ahead, and that a further injection of cash into the banking system would be made to ensure the future stability of the financial services sector.
Mr. Brown also congratulated the city on hosting a fantastic
European Capital of Culture year in 2008. |

HAS THE COUNCIL GONE MAD |
|
The Council is proposing to extend car parking charges in Liverpool City Centre from 6pm to 8pm in the evening.
DLIB believes that this will damage local businesses, particularly those in the retail sector.
On Monday morning at 8am, DLIB Chairman Frank McKenna will feature on City Talk 105.9, who are focusing on car parking charges as its ‘Big Issue’.
City Talk will be hosting a poll on its website throughout Monday, and we would urge you to participate in the vote.

The river Mersey acts as a natural barrier between Liverpool and the Wirral. In a bid to maximise Liverpool’s social economy and promote itself as a 24 hour city, should taxi’s be exempt from paying tunnel fees, thus making the city a less resistant destination to residents of the Wirral?
